The Great Big Walk for Herts is back – and this year it's bigger than ever.

On Saturday 26th September, walkers from across Hertfordshire will come together for a county-wide walking challenge in support of local children and young people.

This year, you'll first choose the charity team you'd like to support, then decide whether to walk alongside them on their organised route or take on one of our suggested routes in your own area, fundraising every step of the way.

Pick Your Charity Team

Choose to walk in support of one of Helping Herts' charity partners or for Helping Herts itself. Every step you take will help raise vital funds for children and young people across Hertfordshire.

Fundraising for our charity partners is eligible for match funding, helping to potentially double the impact of the money you raise.

Choose Your Walk

Once you've chosen your charity, decide how you'd like to take part:

  • Join your charity team and walk their organised route alongside fellow supporters - this route can be found on their social media and website, or through direct communication from the charity.

  • Walk your own route by choosing from one of our recommended circular walks across Hertfordshire, completing it in your own time on the day.

Our suggested walk locations include:

  • Newgate Street

  • Hertford

  • Codicote

  • Bishop's Stortford

  • Shenley

  • Sandridge

  • Stanstead Abbotts

  • Chipperfield Common

  • Great Gaddesden

Each recommended route is approximately 13 miles (half marathon distance), with selected locations also offering shorter options for those looking for a more manageable challenge.

Why Take Part?

By joining the Great Big Walk for Herts, you'll be:

  • Supporting children and young people across Hertfordshire.

  • Helping local charities raise vital funds and awareness.

  • Taking part in a positive, community-led event that brings people together across the county.

  • Enjoying a rewarding walking challenge with family, friends or colleagues.
