We are excited to announce our 2026 Herts Hero, Catherine McArevey, for her outstanding dedication to the local community.
Catherine received multiple nominations from her peers and members of the Hertfordshire community.
Former Mayor of Dacorum, Catherine served with kindness, integrity, and genuine compassion. Catherine was described to have worked tirelessly to support local charities, raising significant funds through community events and inspiring others to get involved.
Her commitment throughout the county has been seen to aid others and make a lasting difference to countless people she has interacted with. Catherine is described to be approachable, selfless, and always willing to give her time to support residents, volunteers, and local organisations.
Catherine has consistently demonstrated her commitment to go above and beyond to bring people together and strengthen the community, always putting others first. Her enthusiasm, positivity, and unwavering commitment to public service have inspired those around her. Catherine continues to lead by example, encouraging others to volunteer, support local causes, and take pride in their community.
Catherine, who continues to work as a Community Nurse, commented on her award:
"I'm truly honoured and humbled to receive the Helping Herts Hero Award. I'm proud to be a community nurse, where kindness, inclusion and supporting people beyond healthcare are at the heart of what we do, and I hope this recognition also helps raise awareness of the incredible work Helping Herts does across our community."
