The Great Big Walk for Herts is back and this year it’s bigger than ever.

On Saturday 26 September, walkers from across the county will come together to take on one of nine beautiful circular routes, all starting and finishing in Hertfordshire communities. You can choose to walk for a cause close to your heart, for one of our charity partners, or for Helping Herts itself.

Choose Your Loop

This year’s event features nine local loops, each approximately half marathon distance (around 13 miles). Some locations will also offer shorter loop options, making the event accessible whether you’re a seasoned walker or looking for a manageable challenge with friends or colleagues.

2026 walk locations:

  • Newgate Street

  • Hertford

  • Codicote

  • Bishop’s Stortford

  • Shenley

  • Sandridge

  • Stanstead Abbotts

  • Chipperfield Common

  • Great Gaddesden

You can choose the location that suits you best – close to home, close to work, or simply a route you’ve always wanted to explore.

Walk for a Charity Partner or for Helping Herts

When you sign up, you can choose to:

  • Walk in support of one of Helping Herts’ charity partners, or

  • Walk for Helping Herts, supporting all the charities we work with across Hertfordshire.

Money raised for our charity partners is eligible for match funding, helping to potentially double the impact of your fundraising.
